An Important Update from Instatan Sun Lounge

After eight years of trading, and following careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision for Instatan Sun Lounge to cease trading with effect from 10th September 2026.

Over recent years, the costs associated with operating and maintaining our salons have continued to increase significantly. At the same time, sourcing specialist parts and equipment for our existing sunbeds has become increasingly challenging.

Having considered these challenges and the long-term future of Instatan, we have therefore made the decision to close Instatan Sun Lounge.

What happens to the salons?

While Instatan Sun Lounge itself has ceased trading, we are pleased to confirm that a separate, third-party company has reached an agreement with our landlords to take over the Bournemouth, Poole and Hamworthy shops and establish its own tanning salons at these locations.

Before opening, the new company intends to make a significant investment across all three locations, including comprehensive refurbishment works and the replacement of the existing tanning beds with new tanning equipment.

The works will also include improvements and upgrades throughout the premises, giving each location a fresh new look and feel ahead of reopening.

Due to the extent of these works, the salons will need to remain temporarily closed. The new company is currently working towards reopening the locations during October 2026.

We appreciate that this temporary closure will cause some inconvenience, but we hope our clients will be pleased to see the locations continue as tanning salons, with substantial investment being made into the premises and equipment.

What happens to my existing tanning minutes?

We appreciate that many of our clients currently have unused tanning minutes held on their Instatan accounts.

Although the new company will not be Instatan Sun Lounge,  we are very pleased to confirm that, as part of the arrangements surrounding the shops, they have agreed to honour existing tanning minutes held by Instatan clients.

This means that your remaining minutes will not be lost when Instatan closes.

Once the refurbishment works have been completed and the new salons have opened, existing Instatan clients will be able to redeem their remaining minutes with the new company and use them on the newly installed tanning equipment.

Further information about the new salons, including how existing minutes can be redeemed, will be provided ahead of reopening.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused during the period in which the premises are closed and the refurbishment works are taking place.

Most importantly, after eight years, we would like to take this opportunity to say a genuine thank you to everyone who has supported Instatan Sun Lounge and been part of our journey.

Whether you have been with us from the very beginning or only recently became a client, your custom, loyalty and support over the years have been hugely appreciated.

While this marks the end of Instatan Sun Lounge, we are pleased that the Bournemouth, Poole and Hamworthy locations will have a new chapter. A new company will be bringing its own tanning salons to the premises, with new equipment, refurbished facilities and a fresh new identity.

We wish them every success for the future and look forward to seeing the newly refurbished locations reopen.
